Road trips to the Pilbara
7 October, 2013

Over the last few months I've worked on a few commissioned trips to the North of Western Australia to a region known as the Pilbara. The Pilbara is a pretty incredible place, over the 2 trips I've driven more than 13,000 kms across all types of terrain, from nice sealed roads to corrugated red-dirt tracks. When you drive through out the Pilbara, you are sharing the roads with some massive road trains, the back bone of Australia,  as well as wide...

Fuji X-Pro1
21 June, 2012

Hey All, I've been fortunate enough to be given a Fuji X-Pro1 to road test by Leigh Diprose and FujiFilm Australia over the next few days. I'm heading away on a short road trip to whereabouts unknown, so I'll be semi-offline until Sunday. When I get back, I'll be sharing my thoughts on the Fuji X-Pro1 along with images and comparisons of the different modes, I'll also be taking my Canon 5Dmk2! Have a great weekend...

Getting it right in camera and the mythical purist
20 June, 2012

I've had some pretty interesting responses to  my blog post "Is post-processing cheating", most of the response has been positive and supportive, with a few of the "purists" weighing in to have their say too. Here is a short version of my photography philosophy so to speak: Getting it right in camera: My goal is to get my photography as near as perfect as I can in the camera, this involves using external and artificial lighting, bounces,...

Goldfields Road Trip
14 June, 2012

A few weeks ago I was booked in for a commercial photography shoot in Kalgoorlie, having never previously been to Kalgoorlie, I thought it would be a great opportunity to explore the area and visit a few places that I've had my eye on for awhile now. The trip was mostly a location scouting trip, rather than a strictly photographic trip, but I managed to come away with quite a few images that I'm really happy with. The trip started Sunday afternoon...

Nanarup
30 January, 2012

I did an epic road trip with Leigh Diprose down to Albany and back in a day.. 10 hours driving in all! I got some pretty decent images considering it was such a quick trip. This was taken at Nanarup, Western Australia, it was my first time there and there were less than ideal conditions.. but I'm really looking forward to heading back there and reshooting it! I'll have a few more images coming over the next couple of...

The Chase Continues
21 January, 2012

Yesterday I headed out with fellow photographer and mate Adrian Wayte to chase the rest of the storm, he was ticked off because I'd tried to get him to come out with me to photograph the lightning but didn't make it. We decided to head north east and try to get in front of the storm as the most dramatic images are usually the front of the storm.. After covering quite a bit of ground we managed to find a nice hill directly in front of the storm, it...

Storm Chasing
19 January, 2012

I wasn't going to head out this afternoon... but when Adrian Wayte sent me a message saying he was heading out to get some photos, I just had to join him.. we travelled *all* over the country side, doing some location scouting for future trips, as well as getting some pretty decent photos. I'm very happy that I headed out as I got some images that I'm really happy with! Thanks for driving today Adrian, was an awesome trip! I'll have a...

Albany Coastline
7 January, 2012

There is something very raw, rugged and untamed about the southern coastline, especially around Albany. 9 image stitch, Canon 5DmkII, Carl Zeiss 50mm f1.4 All comments appreciated Regards Paul...

Time Lapse over Mullalyup
27 December, 2011

Hey All, We headed down to Mullalyup, Western Australia to Bec's Grandpa's place (http://willowsrest.com), it's a lovely place set on 16 Acres of beautiful land. Mullalyup and the whole region is known for having very little light pollution at night, which makes it perfect for star gazing and astro-photography. I took the opportunity to set my camera up for an all night shoot last night. I was very lucky to not only get perfectly clear skies...
