Road trips to the Pilbara
7 October, 2013

Over the last few months I've worked on a few commissioned trips to the North of Western Australia to a region known as the Pilbara. The Pilbara is a pretty incredible place, over the 2 trips I've driven more than 13,000 kms across all types of terrain, from nice sealed roads to corrugated red-dirt tracks. When you drive through out the Pilbara, you are sharing the roads with some massive road trains, the back bone of Australia,  as well as wide...

Sunday Afternoon Session - North Beach, Western Australia
22 April, 2013

Hey All, I headed down to North Beach at sunset tonight just to see what I could get, after last nights pretty average effort, I wanted to redeem myself or at least get something that I liked! I captured some pretty decent photos, ones that I certainly liked, and then I went about experimenting with some new techniques that I will eventually post about and describe how I do it.   And a few abstracts that I really...

Autumn in Perth & The making of an Untouched image
17 April, 2013

Hey All, Just thought I'd post up my latest image from my "Untouched" series. For those wondering how I created this image, here is a rough outline: - Climbed a tree (destroying a pair of pants in the process) - set up my tripod in the tree.. seriously! - Canon EOS 5Dmk2 + 16-35mm f2.8L lens + Big Stopper Neutral Density Filter - Pointed the camera more or less straight down - 1 minute exposure - for the first 45-50 seconds (ish) I...

Incredible Sunset - Perth, Western Australia
4 April, 2013

Hey All, I had a commercial shoot this afternoon down Kwinana way, on the way home I thought I'd check out a few of the local beaches to see if I could find anything worth doing sunset at.. Pretty happy that I stopped, initially it looked like the clouds were going to close in and we were going to get no colour.. then the entire sky lit up for a good 15-20 minutes! Here are the photos from the evening: I hope you enjoyed...

And the Winners are
2 April, 2013

Hey All, Time to announce the winners of the two signed and matted prints! I ended up with quite a few more subscribers than I thought I would, so I did 2 prizes instead of just the one. Every subscriber was assigned a number and then those numbers were put in Random.org's number generator so that it was truly random, and not just me picking the winners. For the second image, I tracked down every share and mention and assigned extra numbers...

Signed & Matted Print Give Away Update
24 March, 2013

Hey All, Well there has been a *huge* response to my give away, so much so that I'm going to actually give *two* prints away now, not to the same person, they'll go to two different people.   I have a matted & signed print of Bennion Beach ready to go to a lucky subscriber, I'm going to give a bonus entry to anyone who shares this post on twitter and tags me (@paulmp) when they share it. I'll also include a bonus entry to anyone...

Perth Lightning Storm - March 10th 2013
11 March, 2013

Hey All, With the forecasts of some potentially rough weather, I've been keeping an eye out on the radar pretty much the entire weekend, hoping for the chance to get out and capture some lightning.  Last night we had some rain come through and off the back of it there was a decent bit of lightning, so I headed out to two of my favourite spots to see if I could capture anything. I'm pretty happy with the results, these are straight out of the...

Imagine
3 March, 2013

I've started work on a new series of images called Imagine. It will be using some photographic techniques I've not managed to master yet, so it will be pushing my photography further and creativity even more. I'll be putting out a blog post soon explaining why I'm doing a couple of different series of images as well.   Regards Paul...
