Title: Lake Ballard Stars

Caption: 51 kilometers from the outback town of Menzies is the salt flats of Lake Ballard. International Artist Antony Gormley has done an art instillation of 51 statues, modelled from the local population. Wandering the salt flats of Lake Ballard during the day is quite nice and is downright eerie at night when you’re out there by yourself! Many years ago I camped on the edge of Lake Ballard for a few nights in order to photograph the Milky Way over the statues, at that stage I hadn’t seen any night sky photos from this location, it has since become quite popular. While I was camped out there I didn’t see another human being for several days, with only the dingoes to keep me company.
