Aviation photography

Over the last 7 years I have been working with several aviation companies to produce images of their aircraft and aerial photography and video for their marketing. The images I’ve produced for them have been used in international marketing campaigns, across their websites, social media, brochures, banners and other marketing efforts.

My work spans across the all aspects of the aviation industry from the single pilot and aircraft tour operator to international airlines and everything in between. The needs are very similar, it is just the scale that changes.

Aviation companies need unique “scroll stopping” photographs and videos of their aircraft in action, of the destinations they visit and the experiences they offer.

The Process

Project Planning

I meet (or skype / phone etc) with you and your team, usually this involves meeting with your marketing person (or team) to get an idea of what you are trying to achieve, what types of images / videos you have in mind and locations.

This time is mostly spent in getting the concept planned out, we work out what areas we can work in legally, what areas may need special permits / CASA exemptions and how we’re going to achieve the images / videos.

Other things we plan out include what aircraft we’re going to be using, the configuration of the aircraft (ie – doors off, photographer / videographer seating position, harness points, tie downs etc), wind and weather considerations and the routes. This part needs to include the pilots so we can work out communications, safety measures and timing for both aircraft.

The better the project is planned out, the better the results will be and the safer everyone will be. I work with the rule that anyone at any time can stop the project if they think it is unsafe at all, especially once we’re in the air.

Investing in your own high quality photographic library of images is an investment that will last you many years.

Previous clients are still using photographs I captured for them in 2012 and 2013, one client has even just recently (2019) used a photo I took in 2013 as the front cover of their latest brochure.

Having your own library of images gives you a resource you can use constantly across your website, printed marketing materials and also gives you something to post to your social media accounts on a regular basis, helping you to take more bookings!

Beyond marketing it can also be used in annual reports, business plans, funding pitches and other corporate needs.
