Mullewa Photo Book
30 November, 2011

Just on 2 years ago I was asked to do some photography workshops in Mullewa, Western Australia.. it is a rural farming town about an hours drive inland from Geraldton. Rachel Mackenzie, the community development officer, was putting together a project called Thicker than water, a book about Mullewa, created largely by the people in Mullewa. The workshops were a lot of fun, other than the theory sessions, we got out on the farms for some practical...

Australian Night Skies
29 November, 2011

For the last 2 years I've been doing some night time photography, mostly trying to capture the night skies in all their glory here in Australia. In Western Australia we have a relatively small and very spread out population compared to the eastern states and as such we get a lot less light polution in our night skies. They are incredible! I'm going to be working on a project to capture these skies in a much better way over the next 12 months, I'm...

People of Cambodia
10 October, 2011

Hey All, I thought I'd add some of the people images I created while in Cambodia! These 3 young boys were out in remote Cambodia, looking after some cattle. I photographed them on our return trip from a village where the medical team I was travelling with saw 187 patients in 3 hours! As part of the medical team, we gave out prescription glasses to the villagers. They would try several pairs until they could see decently through...

Ta Prohm Temple - Cambodia
4 October, 2011

Hey All, I know I've been a bit quiet over the last 2 weeks.. it's been incredibly busy. Cambodia is an amazing country and I've already started planning my next 2 trips back there! I'll have some more photos and videos from the trip on my blog shortly, I'll also be posting up some thoughts and stories from my work with Awareness Cambodia, the orphanage and the medical clinics that they run. In the mean time here are some images from the end of my...

Cambodia - first impressions
18 September, 2011

Hey All, On Friday I made the epic journey through Singapore and across to Phnom Penh. As we were approaching Phnom Penh the clouds cleared a little and we were able to see an overview of the area. Most of the low lying areas outside the main city are currently experiencing flooding as we've come during their wet season. We've had a very full on day and a half already, yesterday we visited the Killing Fields and S21. Both were very intense and...

Road Trip!
11 September, 2011

We picked up our new toy on Friday, a Nissan Navara ST-R, it was replacing our Subaru Forester. We immediately traveled in it to Geraldton to visit the family and check out the wildflowers. The trip was fairly uneventful other than having an owl fly into the windscreen and break my mobile aerial, it was a bit of a shock for all involved! I'll have a few photos up from Coalseam Park over the next couple of days, the wildflowers are pretty amazing...

Busselton Jetty
9 September, 2011

Anyone who knows me knows that I love to visit Busselton and the South West corner of Western Australia.. and that I love jetties.. well Busselton has a 2km long jetty! What isn't to love?! It's a great place to visit and well worth the walk out to the end of the jetty. For the adventurous it's a really nice snorkel off the end of the jetty too, 8-10m deep and usually crystal clear, there is loads of coral and fish as well. A few weeks ago I was...

Old Beverley Road Sunset
9 September, 2011

A few weeks ago I did a quick road trip down to the Stirling Ranges to see if I could get photos of the snow that was supposed to fall.. after getting hailed and sleeted on up at Bluff Knoll I beat a fairly hasty retreat.. I did see snow, but it melted as soon as it hit the ground. The trip wasn't a total waste of time and effort though as I got many images that I love and a couple I've shared already. On the way home to Perth I took a very...

New Norcia Altered Landscape
6 September, 2011

Christian Fletcher has been talking about this new wave of photography that he calls Altered Landscapes.. very simply put it's a landscape in an urban or man made setting. I haven't really been able to see what all the fuss is about to be completely honest, but I've been giving it a shot.. actually quite a few shots.. and I think this is the first one that I've really been happy with. It's very different for me, but it is something I would like to...
