Road Trip!
11 September, 2011

We picked up our new toy on Friday, a Nissan Navara ST-R, it was replacing our Subaru Forester. We immediately traveled in it to Geraldton to visit the family and check out the wildflowers. The trip was fairly uneventful other than having an owl fly into the windscreen and break my mobile aerial, it was a bit of a shock for all involved! I'll have a few photos up from Coalseam Park over the next couple of days, the wildflowers are pretty amazing...

Busselton Jetty
9 September, 2011

Anyone who knows me knows that I love to visit Busselton and the South West corner of Western Australia.. and that I love jetties.. well Busselton has a 2km long jetty! What isn't to love?! It's a great place to visit and well worth the walk out to the end of the jetty. For the adventurous it's a really nice snorkel off the end of the jetty too, 8-10m deep and usually crystal clear, there is loads of coral and fish as well. A few weeks ago I was...

Old Beverley Road Sunset
9 September, 2011

A few weeks ago I did a quick road trip down to the Stirling Ranges to see if I could get photos of the snow that was supposed to fall.. after getting hailed and sleeted on up at Bluff Knoll I beat a fairly hasty retreat.. I did see snow, but it melted as soon as it hit the ground. The trip wasn't a total waste of time and effort though as I got many images that I love and a couple I've shared already. On the way home to Perth I took a very...

Trinity Dusk
7 September, 2011

A few weeks ago I went on a quick trip out to the Chittering Valley with my good mate Brock to see if we could get any decent photos. We experimented with some long shutter speed images and flowing water up and down the creeks that are currently flowing though the valley. I wasn't overly excited about any the images I produced during the day, as we were heading home though we were presented with this great silhouette looking up a hill towards the...

New Norcia Altered Landscape
6 September, 2011

Christian Fletcher has been talking about this new wave of photography that he calls Altered Landscapes.. very simply put it's a landscape in an urban or man made setting. I haven't really been able to see what all the fuss is about to be completely honest, but I've been giving it a shot.. actually quite a few shots.. and I think this is the first one that I've really been happy with. It's very different for me, but it is something I would like to...

Canola on a hill
6 September, 2011

Hey All, I was discussing Canola field photos with fellow landscape photographer (and source of inspiration) Adrian Wayte, when I realised that I hadn't actually blogged my all time favourite image from last year! So here it is! This was taken with my old Canon 5DmkII and a 24-70mm f2.8L lens, if I recall right I used a grad filter and stitched it in photoshop and that was about it, maybe some minor levels adjustment and sharpening. The area...

Canola Fields New Norcia
6 September, 2011

Hey All, Just a quick post with my Canola fields shot from our quick trip up to New Norcia last week, we were very lucky to get a brief break in the rain just at sunset and this was the shot I got. It's the first panoramic I've put together with my new camera gear after having it all stolen when our house was broken into. This was taken with Canon 5DmkII and a Carl Zeiss 50mm f1.4 absolutely love this lens, it's crystal clear and has amazing...

News and a Cambodia Update
17 August, 2011

Hey All, As most of you would know, I have been planning a trip to Cambodia in September. I'm going to be working for 2 weeks in an orphanage that is run by Awareness Cambodia, as well as  a clinic / hospital. I'm really looking forward to the trip. I've just finished all my immunisation and shots, all I've got left to do now is my Malaria medication, which starts 2 weeks before I leave and finishes 2 weeks after I get back. The...
