Hey All, Just an update on the Journey of Light Exhibition, it's going really well and the response to my artwork has been incredible.. I'm so grateful that people have taken time out of their weekend to come and visit the exhibition! The most popular pieces seem to be "The Chase" and "Sunset Reflections": The Chase: Sunset Reflections: For those of you who haven't been able to make it down yet.. or would like to visit again, I'll...

Exhibition - A Journey of Light - October 2012
11 September, 2012

Upcoming Exhibition October 2012 In 2009 I moved from Queensland to Western Australia, since the move I have been exploring and discovering Western Australia for myself. Countless hours have been spent driving and hiking to uncover some of the gems that Western Australia has to offer. A large part of my journey has been working to be in place at the right time of day, to capture the light in perfect conditions. Frequently this means early...

Location Location Location
3 July, 2012

Hey All, I've been asked a few times recently as to why I rarely share specifically where my photos have been taken or why I don't write down exact settings for many of my images. Instead of answering the question directly, I thought I'd put together a blog post on what my process is in finding my locations, that way you can do research and find your own too! Tip 1 - Visualise.. I know it sounds a bit weird, but the photos of mine that I...

Fuji X-Pro1
21 June, 2012

Hey All, I've been fortunate enough to be given a Fuji X-Pro1 to road test by Leigh Diprose and FujiFilm Australia over the next few days. I'm heading away on a short road trip to whereabouts unknown, so I'll be semi-offline until Sunday. When I get back, I'll be sharing my thoughts on the Fuji X-Pro1 along with images and comparisons of the different modes, I'll also be taking my Canon 5Dmk2! Have a great weekend...

It's not about the process
21 June, 2012

My last post on this topic for at least the next few weeks, I promise! One last point for the mythical purists: You are "editing" reality when you select your ISO, your aperture, your shutter speed.. heck if you shoot film, the very type of film you use will dictate the colours you capture and the style of the photograph. So don't tell me it's about capturing reality, it's not! Photography, while technical in process, is an entirely creative art...

Getting it right in camera and the mythical purist
20 June, 2012

I've had some pretty interesting responses to  my blog post "Is post-processing cheating", most of the response has been positive and supportive, with a few of the "purists" weighing in to have their say too. Here is a short version of my photography philosophy so to speak: Getting it right in camera: My goal is to get my photography as near as perfect as I can in the camera, this involves using external and artificial lighting, bounces,...

Is post-processing "cheating"?
18 June, 2012

Hey All, Just recently I had an image go fairly viral on Google+ with over 2700 +1s, 795 re-shares and 500 comments, it is an image of Perth city with several lightning strikes behind it, the image was published in The West Australian newspaper and on several news websites at the end of 2011. It has also been licensed to FESA and several insurance companies for use in their publications. Here is the image: Print available here What I really...

More Perth Storms!
13 June, 2012

Hey All, I know it's been awhile since my last post.. I'm working on a few large posts from my Goldfields trip and another one from some recent trips to Busselton.. Headed out tonight with True North Mark to see if we could get any decent shots of the storm, on my way over to Mark's place I stopped at Leighton Beach and was fortunate enough to capture a small lightning strike as the storm rolled in. Print Available Here Mark and I headed...
