Canola Fields New Norcia

Hey All,

Just a quick post with my Canola fields shot from our quick trip up to New Norcia last week, we were very lucky to get a brief break in the rain just at sunset and this was the shot I got. It’s the first panoramic I’ve put together with my new camera gear after having it all stolen when our house was broken into. This was taken with Canon 5DmkII and a Carl Zeiss 50mm f1.4 absolutely love this lens, it’s crystal clear and has amazing optics.

Had to post this after seeing True North Mark’s and Merv’s shots! I love having other like-minded enthusiasts here in Perth and the surrounds.. great to be able to compare shots and exchange inspiration and techniques!

Anyway.. here is my Canola shot:

All comments appreciated!

Regards

Thanks Gav! You so need to come over here.. you’d be in your element over here, plus I could use an offsider / second photographer / partner in crime in the commercial photography arena :-)

Lovely shot, Canola is definitely the flavour of the month

Thanks Peta, it’s certainly the season for Canola, I love the look of the country side covered in it, always looks a little bit surreal :)

    Nicely done Paul!

I really like the composition and everything about the shot.

The only little thing that detracts is the blown out sky on the left. If you have a faster exposure on that frame I would blend it in a bit, but cracker shot in any case!

Thanks Mark! Yeah, I was a bit disappointed with that section, unfortunately I didn’t get any better exposures than that, I’m currently trying to recover it or tone it down somewhat :)

    Excellent Paul.

Hey bad news about the break in. When did that happen?

    Insurance covered it I hope.

Thanks Merv! We were broken into on the 24th of August, they took my camera bag with all my gear in it and 2 laptop bags. I’ve replaced most of the gear already, just waiting on the insurance to pay out now :)
