Website Overhaul in Progress

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Hey All,

I’ve finally managed to find a little bit of free tme, so I’m in the process of working out a new design for the website, I want to incorporate the blog right into the website so that it’s all the one theme.. because they look vastly different at the moment. I’ve been working on a few Word Press projects lately, so I’m going to customise a theme for my own purposes. Then I’ll try and redesign the website to match the blog.. Also looking at giving the front page a bit of a face lift and adding a few pages..

I get heaps of enquiries about my pricing, I’m not sure if I like to blatantly advertise my prices as I’d prefer to keep my competition guessing, but I think I would get less enquiries that were more “qualified” so to speak if I had some sort of pricing structure on my site. Currently I don’t have set packages as I really do prefer to tailor my pricing to the couple.. I hate selling people stuff that they don’t want or need, so why package it in I say.

I’ve also put up a shot from Duncan & Lisa’s wedding on Red Bubble, so if any of the relatives want to buy a print of it they can order it online and it will get sent directly to them. Here’s one of the shots I’ve put up, I’ve got a few more coming:

Email Subscriptions Available!

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Hey All,

I’m working on a few things with my blog at the moment.. first of all I’m working on a whole new design.. something a bit more “me”.. so probably pretty arty and very web 2.0 (rounded corners and shiny buttons.. that’s about all web 2.0 is as far as I can tell).

But my main announcement is that I now have an email subscription service.. to save you checking back every day, you can simply sign up with the lovely little link on the right hand side bar and once you have confirmed your email address you’ll be notified of every post I put up :)

Or you could just click on this link here: Subscribe to my Blog by Email

Let me know if there are any issues with it, as I’ve only done some limited testing..

Successful Trip – New Artwork

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Hey All,

Well I had a very successful trip away, the flight with tiger airways was smooth, service was very friendly.. and if I didn’t know better, I would swear that the service girls at the airport had read my blog.. Both myself and Steve received free upgrades to the front row! Got to love the extra leg room.. my only 2 hesitations in using them again would be the luggage restrictions (15kgs unless you are willing to pay extra) and the fact that they only fly out of the Gold Coast at the moment.. if they flew out of Brisbane it would be a whole heap more convenient.. it would also be nice if they did a Brisbane to Perth flight (hint hint)..

We got into Melbourne fairly late, hired a Nissan Patrol for 24 hours, Avis gave us a very good deal on a diesel model, $126 including extra insurance to reduce the excess down to $300.. always take the insurance option. If you need a good deal on a hire car in Melbourne, go see Nigel at the Avis desk.. he was really helpful… anyway enough plugs for other companies ;-)

We headed out nice and early Friday morning to the Otways.. one of my favorite places on earth. Did a lot of driving and exploring.. met up with some other photographers and some nice tourists from Western Australia (well he was from the USA.. but they live in WA now), they advised us to go for a walk to the bottom of a water fall.. I’m really glad they did as I got some great shots from the bottom of the falls.. (if you are the tourists we met, please email me.. I’d love to get in contact).

Here are some of the shots from the Otways (click on them to buy them from RedBubble):

Hopetoun Falls - Paul Pichugin

Hopetoun Falls II - Paul Pichugin

I’ve got some more shots coming from Erskine Falls and a few other places too.. I’ll have them up in the next couple of days..

We left Melbourne in the middle of the night and drove on out through the middle of Victoria.. dawn arrived while we were in the middle of nowhere… which turned out to be a very good thing, here are some shots from dawn:

A New Day - Paul Pichugin

Dawn - Paul Pichugin

I’ll have some more shots from the trip up in the next couple of days.. If you are looking at buying a print, I would really recommend doing the mounted print in large with the black border, it looks great, although if you are just after a little momento, check out the cards as well, they are $6 each.

All comments appreciated

Don’t Spam Me..

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Hey All,

I’ve had to tighten up my spam filter because some nutter decided it was alright to post a thousand comments on my blog with 6 links to their websites in each one.. not sure why they picked my blog in particular, but they have. So most normal comments should still go through, but if you have more than one link in your comment, it may be a day or 2 before I can get time to approve it…

Please do feel free to leave comments though, would love to hear some feedback..

Quick Roadtrip Ahead

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Hey All,

I’m preparing my gear at the moment for a quick road trip, a friend and I will be flying down to Melbourne, then doing a days worth of shooting in the Otway National Park :) I’m really looking forward to visiting some new places and re-visiting some old favorites. After the days shooting on Friday, we’re going to drive back to Brisbane, leaving Saturday morning and aiming to be back by Sunday Night, shooting everything we can find on the way.

Here are some shots from previous trips to the area:

Flowing - Art Print by Paul Pichugin

Otways Rainforest - Art Print by Paul Pichugin

Beauchamp Falls - Art Print by Paul Pichugin

Remember you can click on the photos to take you to a secure site where you can buy my prints and have them sent directly to you. They come in cards (only $6 each), matted prints, mounted boards (my personal favorite) and framed prints.. a couple of them are available as posters. I’ve had some great feedback on the quality of the prints people receive.. I have 3 hanging on my walls too :)

I will soon be releasing a limited edition 2009 Calendar as well.. personally signed by me :) Let me know if you are interested in receiving one..

I will try and keep you all posted with our progress and post up photos as soon as I can.. I should be taking my laptop with me so I’ll try and post a couple of photos up on Friday night :) Also it will be my first time flying with Tiger Airways (got to love a $70 flight to Melbourne from the Gold Coast), so I’ll let you know what I think.. I’m a bit of a Virgin Blue fan though, having flown with them around 48 times in 2006 (busy year for work) and about 10 times since..  so I’ll see how we go.  I think the hardest thing if I were to use them regularly would be the 15kg weight limit for checked in baggage.. my camera gear alone weighs more than that…

Anyways, I’ve got to keep working on some photos.. Duncan & Lisa’s wedding photos are nearly done.. will get them up before the end of the week :)

Photography Update

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

Hey All,

I have been super busy the last couple of days, which is why I’ve not had a chance to post anything up. I’m currently working on a set of wedding photos and 2 websites, so it’s been a bit flat out. I’ll have the photos from Duncan & Lisa’s wedding all finished in the next couple of days though :)

I’ve got a few exciting weddings coming up in the next couple of months, really looking forward to shooting them.. One of them is my little sister’s wedding, which will be fun and quite emotional at the same time. It’s going to be in Perth, with the reception at a nice country club / golf course. I’ve been over there recently to do some preparation work for the wedding, I’ve got some great shots in mind already.

While I was in Perth a family friend wanted me to do some portraits up of their kids.. I’ve done quite a few of them as they have grown up, great looking kids and fun to try and work with.

Here are a couple of the shots:

 Charlie & Aliyah

Tammy & Charlie

Also, I’m in the process of ramping up towards an exhibition of my landscape and wedding photography.. I’ll have more details soon, but you are all invited (if you live in the Brisbane area, or are going to be in the area).

Anyways, I’ve got to get back to it, I’ll have more updates in the next couple of days and some more prints for sale up on my redbubble site.

I’ve been doing landscape prints through a website called “Redbubble”, I’ve printed 4 of them so far and they’ve come out awesome. Here’s my favorite shot so far, although I have more coming:

Approaching Storm - Paul Pichugin

If you click on the image, it will take you to redbubble where you can buy the print, I really recommend the mounted prints with a black border, looks great in a large, I have one on my own wall at home :)

I’ve got a few other landscapes up there as well, feel free to have a look around, here’s a link to my redbubble profile with all of my landscapes available to buy: http://www.redbubble.com/people/paulmp/art
